In creating this expensive looking necklace I combined what I call want-a-be center drilled Blue-bird turquoise and a sterling silver hook and eye clasp. The Blue-bird mine produced beautiful Robin egg blue turquoise and the Chinese have very nearly reproduced that look. Yes, the nuggets are from China. At worst they are dyed white Magnesite or possibliy they are turquoise chalk that has been color shot and combined with a binder. Lots of these stones are being sold in the southwest as real turquoise but they are not!
The necklace is 17 1/2" in length and the nuggles are mostly about 5/8" in width. If this necklace were made using real Blue Bird Turquoise the price would be very high. So...enjoy the look of expensive turquoise for a very reasonable cost.
